Driver rams into Vons storefront in University City after being asked to leave



A driver rammed a car right into a Vons storefront in College Metropolis on Sunday, roughly 20 minutes after he was kicked out of the shop, San Diego police stated.

It was unclear why the driving force had been requested to go away the enterprise on Regents Street close to Arriba Road, police Officer John Buttle stated. The motive force — a person believed to be in his 40s — drove off after ramming the constructing.

As of 9:30 p.m., police had not positioned the driving force.

Police stated the crash occurred about 5:10 p.m. A Vons worker advised OnScene TV that the person smashed into the storefront, put his car in reverse and backed out, then slammed into the shop a second time.

The person was in a SUV, the worker stated. Buttle stated it was an van.

“The primary time it occurred we thought it may need been an accident,” the worker stated. He added that he and others approached to see if the driving force wanted medical consideration, “however then (the driving force) pulled again and rammed straight by way of the door yet one more time.”

No accidents have been reported.

The motive force then took off, headed towards Regents Street, Buttle stated.

The Vons worker stated the driving force didn’t appear indignant or “motivated.”

“He appeared surprisingly lucid, really,” he stated.

The worker stated a surveillance digital camera close to the entrance doorways doubtless captured the crash.
