A 46-year-old man pleaded responsible Wednesday to second-degree homicide for stabbing his husband to loss of life two years in the past of their Mount Helix house.
Daniel Scott Jordan faces 16 years to life in jail for the slaying of Kevin Powell, 38. Jordan is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 11 in El Cajon Superior Court docket, based on Deputy District Lawyer Eva Kilamyan.
Authorities stated that after Jordan killed Powell, he fled the state and was discovered days later in Nevada after attempting to kill himself.
Powell, a metropolis of Chula Vista worker, had uncharacteristically missed conferences and did not reply his cellphone on Aug. 11, 2020. Metropolis staffers requested police to test on him. Officers discovered Powell lifeless his mattress in his Carmen Drive house.
At Jordan’s arraignment, Kilamyan stated Powell had been stabbed 50 instances. A knife from his kitchen remained plunged in his chest.
Jordan was gone, and his cellphone was turned off, the prosecutor stated.
He was arrested 9 days later in Reno, Nev., after a suicide try landed him in a hospital there. By that point, he’d been declared a suspect in Powell’s loss of life and had a warrant out for his arrest.
Earlier than Powell took a human sources job in Chula Vista in November 2019, he had labored for the town of Coronado and the County of San Diego.
