A San Diego-based Navy helicopter collided in flight with a San Diego Gasoline and Electrical helicopter Tuesday night, the Navy mentioned in an announcement.
Each plane landed safely at Brown Subject and nobody was injured. The collision occurred round 5:50 p.m., the Federal Aviation Administration mentioned.
The MH-60R Sea Hawk was conducting night time coaching when the collision occurred, based on Ensign Bryan Blair, a Navy spokesperson at Naval Air Forces in San Diego. It’s assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 41 at Naval Air Station North Island. HSM-41 is a coaching squadron for Navy pilots and aircrew, the Navy mentioned.
The SDG&E contracted helicopter is a Sikorsky UN-60A — primarily the civilian model of the Navy helicopter, the FAA mentioned.
